The term Cinema of Transgression was coined by Nick Zedd in 1985, describing the work of a group of people that lived in the, at that time, violently and drug infested Lower East Side of New York. They were filming super low budget movies with 8mm cameras full of sex and violence to shock the audience but there was also always a sense of subtle humor.

IRIEDAILY art director and co-founder Jaybo is taking part in the second edition of "MADE presents MOMENTS" this coming Thursday. Check the video for the first edition with Aloe Blacc, Mihalj “MIKI” Kekenj and Jaybo.
Jaybo (at 2:32 to 6:00) painted a picture inspired by „I need a dollar“. Btw, the song is also the title song for HBO hipster series „How to make it in America“ starring Kid Cudi and skater Javier Nunez.
This time it´s Erykah Badu whose songs are going to be reinterpreted by Mihalj “MIKI” Kekenj and his string quintet.
Badu caused a megaruckus last year with the now notorious video for her song „Window Seat“.
The video was filmed at the exact same Dallas intersection where John F. Kennedy was killed in 1963.

As we previously reported, the Chinese artist and activist for human rights Ai Weiwei has been arrested by Chinese authorities. After six weeks without information about his residence, he was meanwhile allowed to receive visits from his wife. Officially, Ai Weiwei is still being imprisoned because of economic crimes, the Chinese government has not clarified, yet. The artist Jaybo aka Monk, who startet the Facebook campaign "Where is WEI WEI", placed a black prison cell in Berlin as a symbol of protest for free speech and against the prosecution of Ai Weiwei.
Since his arrival at the airport in Beijing on, the Chinese artist and an activist for better human rights in China, Ai Weiwei, has been arrested by the authorities. So far, neither his family nor his lawyers have heard of him. Present whereabouts unknown. The German cultural scene is shocked in consideration of this event. Ai Weiwei is regarded to be one of the most popular international Chinese artists but also a well known dissident. Lots of campaigns are concerned with this topic and try to promote this issue in public. You can participate online at “Where is Wei Wei”, supported among others by Jaybo aka Monk.
