IRIEDAILY friendly supports: CDC Festival 2019 in Berlin
CDC Festival Berlin – Culture Dance Clash & Culture Dance Camp
Our friends from M.I.K. Family have teamed up with TopUp Production to create the CDC Festival. They have combined the two formats TopUp Dancehall Camp and Cypher Dance Championship to one big festival.
The Culture Dance Clash and the Culture Dance Camp form the CDC Festival, which will take place from 29th May to 2nd June 2019 in the Gemeinschaftshau Gropiusstadt in Berlin. There will also be a Welcome Jam Session, a Conference and Aftershow Parties. Friendly supported by IRIEDAILY!
At this year’s CDC Festival about 1500 young dancers from all over the world are expected, who all share the love for Urban Dance Styles.
The Culture Dance Camp focuses on dance workshops, while the Culture Dance Clash offers a platform for dancers from different urban dance styles. A total of 25 dance courses, led by 17 internationally renowned dance teachers from Jamaica, Europe and West Africa, will be held at the CDC Festival.
M.I.K. Family – Culture Dance Clash
2 days Culture Dance Clash with awesome guest dancers and 6 battle categories can be experienced from 31.05.-01.06.2019!
Culture Concept. In the past few years our IRIEMEMBER M.I.K. Family have developed a unique battle concept, which was previously called “Cypher Concept”. Since 2019 this format has been called “Culture Concept”, which will also be implemented at the CDC Festival. It is an All Style Dance Battle, where six invited guest dancers as well as four dancers who have passed a pre-selection round can show their art and skills in a Cypher. After each round, the dancers themselves select the “weakest” dancer, who is then eliminated. When there are only two dancers left, the three previously eliminated dancers decide who won the battle (unless the two dancers decide for themselves).
This year’s guest dancers are:
Frankie J (Great Britain) – House
Jamie (Germany) – Hip Hop
Nadiah Nfuzion (Australia) – Dance Hall
Candyman (France) – Locking
Dalil (Germany) – Popping
Mr. Kriss (Czechia) – Bboying
Host is Prince of M.I.K. Family and another secret host. The beats are provided by DJ Fresh, Heavy Hammer Sound and another tba.
In the Culture Dance Clash, talents and teams can also participate in various categories:
2vs2 All Style
7 to Win (Kids)

M.I.K. Family & TopUp Production
The M.I.K. Family was founded in 2006 as a dance crew. Today they are more than “just” a dance group. Their activities range from social work, dance theatre, TV shows, modeling, DJing to dance courses and the organization of their own events. The M.I.K. Family is characterized by the different dance skills of its members: from classical Hip Hop and Streetdance over Krump and House up to dynamic Lite Feet and Afro Styles.
TopUp Production is a team of six young women whose mission is to promote and endorse afro diasporic popular culture in Berlin, Germany and Europe. They want to enhance cultural exchange and understanding between the Caribbean and the Western culture and wish that both sides can learn from each other and thus, enrich their way of living, thinking and creating art.
