Iriemember Lara Lessmann

MISSION: Olympic gold!

Lara Lessmann, born the 10th of February 2000, rides BMX Freestyle and is really great at it! We are proud to count her among our IRIEMEMBERs!

The 18-year-old was born in Flensburg but now lives in Berlin. She attends the sports school in Köpenick, so it is obvious that the ramps of Mellowpark in Wuhlheide are her home. Lara got her first BMX at the age of 9 from her grandparents and her brother took her to practice. And that was the beginning of a great career!
Meanwhile, Lara Lessmann belongs to the absolute world elite in her sport and it would be hard to imagine the winner’s podium without her. In October 2018 she won the gold medal for Germany at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. In a duo with Evan Brandes, she showed a great performance in the Mixed BMX Freestyle category. In November Lara achieved her next big success: She won the final of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup in Chendgu (China) and took second place in the overall competition. Awesome! 🙂

Lara’s bike is of course custom-made and perfect for her. For example, her BMX is with 10.2kg lighter than most others and her handlebar has been shortened by 2cm. Also the frame is a little bit smaller and shines in a metallic purple.

Lara’s biggest goal and dream is to win Olympic gold. She has the chance to do so in Tokyo in 2020, when BMX Freestyle will be Olympic for the first time. We keep our fingers crossed and strongly believe to see Lara on the Olympic podium!

Here you can have a look at what Lara can do with her BMX 🙂
