‘Live for Myself. Answer to Nobody.’
Barry Feinstein (1931-2011) was a famous photographer, who shot more than 500 record covers.
He was one of the most important chroniclers of the 60ies and 70ies music sene.
Feinstein was also working in the film business and was a close friend of actor Steve McQueen.
The “King of Cool,” how Steve McQueen is referred to, is the subjeczt of a recently published book titled Unseen McQueen.
Over a time span of eight years (1960-1968) Feinstein took pictures of his friend, many never published before. They show McQueen in working – and normal life settings, e.g. his activities as actor and racecar driver.
McQueen was considered a rebel and outsider, the exhibition puts Feinsteins pictures in context to works of contemporary artists, with the subject rebel and outsider.
