MISSION: Against hopelessness, against this fucking loneliness, against this fucking doubt. Simply against life.

TURBOSTAAT are probably one of the most stubborn  and perhaps also most exciting formations in the field of German-speaking rock music. They belong to our friends for a long time and have joined us since the wonderful album “Stadt der Angst”.

The band was founded in 1999 and has become an integral part of German punk music. Originally from Husum in Schleswig-Holstein, the guys now live in Hamburg and Flensburg. For more than 15 years now, the guys from the north have been rocking the stages and inspiring with expressive lyrics and a touch of melancholy. To question the mainstream somehow, that’s what it’s all about and not to make provocative music. The cooperation with our friends Beatsteaks created something great: “Frieda und die Bomben”.  But even without support Turbostaat’s music definitely can be heard. The current album “Abalonia” was released in 2016 and tells a story of the protagonist Ms. Semona, who encounters social grievances and personal feelings. The six studio albums that have already been released are a mix of indie poprock and uncompromising punk, and that’s a pretty great thing!

Turbostaat is also engage in political terms. Again and again, they use their texts to make clear statements against things that go wrong in the world. They support the initiative #WirSagenMoin, which stands up for refugees under the motto “RefugeesWelcome”. The guys themselves say that politics plays a role on each of their albums, because politics is a big issue in their lives.
