Declaration on accessibility
W.A.R.D. GmbH endeavors to keep the website https://www.iriedaily.de/ in accordance with the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG) and the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) for the implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102. This declaration on accessibility applies to the website accessible under the above-mentioned domain.
Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is partially compliant with the requirements of BITV 2.0 in conjunction with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA due to the incompatibilities listed below. The accessibility assessment was carried out using automated tests and manual spot checks. We are aware of the existing deficiencies and are continuously working to rectify them.Non-accessible contentThe content listed below is not yet fully accessible for the following reasons. Each deficiency is only listed once, even if it occurs on several subpages.
- Operation via keyboard and screen reader
Some interactive elements are difficult or impossible to use for people who rely on a keyboard or screen reader.
- Deficiency: When navigating with the keyboard (tab key), a visual focus (e.g. a frame) is not always visible on the currently selected element. This makes orientation on the page difficult or impossible.
- Deficiency: Important operating elements such as buttons (e.g. for the search or the menu) and form fields are not labeled correctly. Screen reader users are therefore unable to recognize their function.
- Affected WCAG success criteria: 2.4.7 (Focus visible), 4.1.2 (Name, role, value).
- Planned improvement: We will ensure a consistently visible highlighting of the keyboard focus and label all controls correctly. This will be implemented as part of the next technical revision of the website.
- Images and visual content
Some images and graphics, especially in older articles, do not contain a sufficient textual description (alternative text).
- Impact: Blind and visually impaired users cannot understand the information displayed on the images because their screen reader cannot read out a description.
- Affected WCAG success criterion: 1.1.1 (non-text content).
- Planned improvement: New content is published with alternative texts as standard. We will successively add the missing alternative texts as part of editorial maintenance and content updates.
- Forms
The forms on this page (e.g. the newsletter registration form or the cookie banner) are not fully accessible.
- Deficiency: Some input fields lack a correctly linked label (). In addition, the browser's auto-complete function is not consistently supported for common data such as email addresses.
- Impact: Screen reader users often do not know what input is expected in a field. All users have to enter known data manually, although the browser could make this easier.
- Affected WCAG success criteria: 1.3.5 (Identify input purpose), 3.3.2 (Labels or instructions), 4.1.2 (Name, role, value).
- Planned improvement: The forms will be revised in the course of the next technical update to improve accessibility and user-friendliness.
- Mobile usability and readability
Use on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets is partially restricted.
- Shortcoming: Some control elements such as links and buttons are very small and difficult to hit. In addition, some fixed font sizes are used, which can limit the scaling of texts.
- Impact: Users with motor impairments or on touchscreens may have difficulty activating the desired elements safely. Fixed font sizes can prevent users with visual impairments from enlarging the text to suit their needs.
- Affected WCAG success criteria: 2.5.5 (target size), 1.4.4 (change text size).
- Planned improvement: The size of the control elements will be increased and font sizes will be changed to relative units to ensure better scalability. This will be adjusted as part of the next design update.
- Page structure and links
The structure of the website and the labeling of links are not consistent throughout.
- Deficiency: The logical order of the headings is not always adhered to. In addition, it is not always made clear when a link leads to an external offer or opens a PDF document.
- Impact: Screen reader users find it more difficult to understand the page structure and navigate to certain sections. Users can leave the website unexpectedly, which can lead to confusion.
- Affected WCAG success criteria: 1.3.1 (Info and relationships), 2.4.4 (Link purpose in context).
- Planned improvement: We will gradually revise the relevant links editorially and provide them with clear references. The correction of the heading structure will be examined as part of future technical adjustments.
